As we endeavor to remain an educational leader in Albuquerque, we have also focused on our partnership with the city of Albuquerque to ensure the security and safety of our campus and the church. The goal of our #IGiveCatholic campaign is to secure the best option for fencing, at the most reasonable cost, while providing a long-term solution. Replacing current fencing on our actual property line would have resulted in the removal of many trees, benches and shrubs, repositioning a pole on San Pedro, and losing part of the perimeter wall at a cost that would exceed the actual purchase price of the property from the city. Based upon these data, the cost of fencing the campus has increased from previous estimates.
The campaign to secure Holy Ghost Catholic School and church is meant to ensure the safety of all
people on campus. The challenges and variables mentioned above have all contributed to the increased
costs for this fencing and security project. Currently, I am working with the city and a donor who has
provided the site survey and plan to present to the city’s development review board, thus saving the
school thousands of dollars that will be allocated to fencing and gates.
In the past year of fundraising, many of our donors have emphasized the hope that every penny of their
donation is spent on the intended project. As we kick off the “Securing Holy Ghost” campaign on
October 28, the feast of Saint Jude Thaddeus, patron saint of police officers, children, and hospital
workers, be assured that any donation will go either to purchase city land or fencing and gating. Anything
you are able to provide will keep our children, teachers, and parishioners safe.
Please know that we pray for all of you, our benefactors, in thanksgiving for your kindness, and we ask
for God’s intercession for all of your needs. We are so grateful for your generosity in the past and hope
you will join us in this campaign! Thank you.
